Samādhi is a state of meditative consciousness. Part of the 8 fold path to enlightenment in yoga. In samādhi the mind becomes still. It is a state of being totally aware of the present moment, the now.
If you would like to, sit comfortably, breathe deep into the belly and begin to withdraw your senses one by one, first your sight by closing the eyes. Your hearing, listening only to the sound of my voice. Your sense of smell, which you may not even be aware of…… returning to the breath. Breathe deeply but comfortably, trying, with only a little effort, to make the exhale a little longer than the inhale. And if your attention wanders, gently guide it back to the breath.
And begin to turn your attention inwards. How does your body feel? What can you feel, when you connect with your body? Visualise the individual parts of your body as you allow your mind and body to connect. Take a little love to the heart, the lungs, the throat, the liver, kidneys, stomach….. if you find somewhere you feel you need to linger, then linger and allow a conversation to grow.
And gently, in your own time, without allowing the mind to race ahead, start to become aware of the smells around you, the sounds around you. Gently rub your hands together to generate some heat and place them over your eyes, slowly opening your eyes when you are ready.
