Yoga

Yoga isn’t about being able to touch your toes, it’s about what you learn on the way down!

Why practice yoga?

Yoga is an ancient practice, enjoyed today by millions of people around the world.  Whether you choose to come to class or practice at home, yoga is for everyone. It has the power to calm & focus the mind and strengthen the body and increase our sense of physical health, emotional well-being, mental clarity, and spiritual connection.

The yoga poses (asanas) improve posture and increase strength and flexibility. They improve circulation and have a wide range of therapeutic benefits. Breathing exercises boost energy, calm the mind and the nervous system and improve the efficiency of our bodily systems. Relaxation counteracts the effects of stress and allows the body to recharge. Over time, yoga will make you more supple, stronger and relaxed, and promote health and well-being. It’s also incredibly enjoyable!

Yoga can help to:

  • increase strength, flexibility, stamina and fitness
  • improve posture and body awareness
  • give you more energy and vitality
  • reduce stress and tension
  • create a sense of calm and well-being
  • stimulate the immune system & relax the nervous system
  • alleviate many ailments including back problems
  • improve concentration & gain a feeling of connection

Yoga can be enjoyed from childhood to your advanced years. You don’t have to be fit or particularly flexible. In fact yoga will help you on your path to achieve both of those goals and regular practice will bring you all the amazing benefits yoga has to offer.

Mixed ability classes

All my public & online classes are mixed-ability and cater for everyone. You’re never a beginner for long, and if you are starting from scratch don’t worry, just come along, join in, and enjoy yourself. You’ll soon get the hang of it. If you’re already experienced, you’re welcome to follow the flow and take more advanced variations if your body calls for them.

Pop-up yoga classes

Would you like to organise a class for a group of friends at your favourite spot, or even at home? Contact me to arrange a pop-up class.

Private group classes

I cater for private group classes in schools, businesses and particularly for sports teams. If you need something specific, please contact me. I have worked with rowers, rugby players, footballers and runners, all complementing their regular training routine with yoga-based strength & suppleness training. For athletes of all types, yoga can be very beneficial in helping to condition the body, and to prevent injury.

Individual instruction & deepening your practice

Whether you’re a beginner looking to improve your confidence before you join a public group, unsure whether yoga is for you, or perhaps you’re more experienced and looking to deepen your practice, individual instruction can be very beneficial. In an individual session we can start from scratch, or focus on something specific. Why not bring a friend along for your first yoga lesson together, perhaps as a treat or a present?

I am a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher. I teach Hatha flow style yoga with influences from many of the other popular forms of yoga; Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow in particular.

Please contact me for more information about starting to learn yoga, or about my local classes and individual or private group instruction.
